New Pressurization System for Analysis of Modern Materials


A new chapter in mercury porosimetry starts with the Pascal system. The mercury porosimetry technique is one of the most useful methods to investigate the porous structure of solid samples in a quantitative way. It provides reliable information about pore size/volume distribution, particle size distribution, bulk (envelope) density and specific surface for most porous solids. The main highlights of the Pascal series Pososimeters are exceptional speed of analysis and high resolution. The Pascal systems are widely used in both QC/QA labs as also in Research and Development sectors. The Pascal system, therefore, provides accurate results independently from the sample nature and/or the operator's experience. In addition, our dedicated software fully controls the instruments and easily generates reports in a variety of formats.

Product Detail

The Pascal Pososimeters range consists of three models that differ by the task and the intended pore size range. The Pascal 140 has a dual role: it prepares the sample for the analysis and carries out low pressure porosimetry from vacuum up to 400 KPa, measuring very large pores and particles. It is often coupled to one of the two high-pressure modules, either the Pascal 240 or Pascal 440. Pascal 240 works up to 200 MPa pressure, permitting to determine the porosity of solids down to the mesopore region. It can be used with different sized sample holders optimized to the type of material (low or high pore volume, homogeneity, etc.). The Pascal 440 reaches the pressure of 400 MPa, which enables very small pores to be measured. Due the high pressure reached only materials with a strong structure remain intact for example ceramics and sintered materials. However in some cases information can be gained about the structure of a material by its decomposition.
